Finishes

It is quite fashionable and common practice to “finish” whisky in different casks than the ones that the majority of the maturing was done in. Many different types of cask are being use from white and red wine and port casks to rum barrels. Again as refered to in the Wood section this can have a strong influence on the spirit, depending on how active the finishing cask is and how long the spirit remains in the cask.
